   KnowHow: Forms --- Browser functions

Forms
To record browser functions is necessary to make sure that technical requirements to participate in your online study are provided by the user. Some functions (e.g. whether JavaScript is activated or not) are fairly simple to access and record. This is, however, not possible with all Plug-Ins, which could prevent the study from properly running on the user's system.

A good strategy to not annoy a potential participant is then, instead of rather letting him or her know that s/he is missing some additional modules and therefore can not participate, to automatically direct that user to survey pages of a similar character that do not require too many browser functions.

This is what it could look like:

Browser function as checkboxes

A typical question could be: Does your browser have installed or activated the following functions and Plug-Ins?
